Frequently Asked Questions

  • The parent representative will be in charge of facilitating extra work outside of the agreed-upon Simplistic Solutions instruction time, but activities will be provided for you upon request.

  • Exact dates vary per year, but in general our first week of instruction will begin on the last week of August, and end on the final week of May.

  • NDE does not collect or require progress reports or attendance hours, the exempt school parent is responsible for their own recordkeeping. We will provide you with a template to track attendance hours. We will hold quarterly progress meetings with parents/guardians, the student’s teacher, and an administrator to go over students’ progress and to make adjustments throughout the year to make sure the student is getting everything they need to be successful.

  • Interventions are separate from academy tuition. We have found that the allotted time for homeschooling should focus on grade-level material with scaffolds built in to support students to make sure we are maximizing our time with them. If your student needs interventions, they will still receive them from their Academy teacher. The intervention time will be added to their regular school day as many times a week as determined by the parents.

  • All students will be assessed within the first week of instruction to determine the best educational plan to fit your child’s individualized needs.

  • We will use the MAP Growth assessment at the beginning, middle, and end of the school year to track progress and to help us determine students’ strengths and areas for growth. We will use this information as one piece of data to help us create and revise learning plans for each individual student.

The MAP Growth is a comprehensive assessment that focuses on tracking the growth of students in grades K 12 throughout the school year. Parents have the option of opting out of the assessment. All cost of the assessments is part of your monthly tuition.

  • We will not have a curriculum that focuses on health requirements.

  • Services can be provided online, in person, or through a hybrid approach for one-on-one instruction. The Academy meets Monday through Thursday from 9-3 pm.

  • Please visit the following website for information on how to file as an exempt student https://cdn.education.ne.gov/wp-content/uploads/2020/05/ESP_FAQ.pdf. See attached frequently asked questions from NDE.

*Students under the age of 7 are not required to file through the state of Nebraska.

**If you are enrolling as an out-of-state student and need assistance in filing with your state, please contact Becky.

  • ince students are not required a specific amount of hours through the state, our recommendation is to do 4 days a week at the Academy from 9-3 pm. Choosing the option of one-on-one homeschooling may look like 4 days for 1-hour sessions with a concentration on number sense, phonemic awareness, phonological awareness and decoding skills. All instruction will be at your child’s skill level.
